I have loved the nature of Maine since I was a toddler. Its swings, its grit, its gentle and extreme beauty, its light. The camera helps the landscape come into focus for me… misty mornings, vivid sunsets, crisp fall colors, waters still and rough, shores of delicate patterns and sharp profiles, scruffy marshlands and puckerbrush. I capture images of the nature of Maine nearly every day all year round, and always find something new to see. My photographs follow the seasons, serving as a journal of daily delights and small adventures. I photograph the places around us most mornings, and it serves as an informal centering meditation of sorts—a deep-breath moment to begin the day. It helps me see and prepares me for my day at work with the non-profit Natural Resources Council of Maine (www.nrcm.org), protecting the nature of the place I love.
