I need water for survival. I don’t mean to drink. I mean to immerse. It pushes me, challenges me, carries me, heals me, centers me, both as a human, and as a photographer. Photography of creatures in water was my first love. Now, what I know is that photographing people in water—the way it transforms them, brings them back to who they really are—is my calling. Maine has extraordinary water bodies in which I can push, play, and work. Both salt and fresh, these pristine waters have become my home.
